THEY ARE ANCIENT, OFTEN COPIED AND STILL WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD
As a significant design element, animals large and small decorate numerous facades of Hamburg buildings and their interiors. Well camouflaged or plain to see, they silently tell their stories of proud merchants, voyages of adventure or even family secrets, but also of individual fates and the turbulent past of the Hanseatic city.
As befits an expedition, you will join me on a search for clues. On our way through the inner city jungle you will discover stately animal specimens as well as some shy buddies… endangered species may also cross our path, provided we don’t behave like a bull in a china shop.
If we get to see a beautiful animal, I will give it a voice so that you will learn where it comes from, what makes it so special and why it feels so at home in its habitat.
Of course, you will also find out about the history of the city as well as the changes in Hamburg’s inner city and on the Waterkant and the classic highlights.
Whether you love animals or not, this tour of discovery is suitable for young and old. I offer my “Expedition into the beautiful animal kingdom of Hamburg” as a walking or cycling tour – in German and English. It can be arranged flexibly with regard to time and can include your own personal ideas.
