– Calluna Vulgaris | Schnuckenköttel | Glider Pilot | Red Area –
Very special sheep cuddle the heather, lizards scurry along our path, the characteristic sand birches sway slowly in the wind – we move attentively and at the same time curiously through Hamburg’s third largest nature reserve…
GREEN IS THE HEATH
The Fischbeker Heide is a picture-book landscape that originated long before Hamburg. Once upon a time, the people here lived in close contact with nature and developed together with it.
Today this cultural landscape is a local recreation area for the Hamburg population and at the same time a protected area for a specialized flora and fauna.
Numerous (long-distance) hiking trails lead through the dry valley of the Fischbeker Heide and one of the most beautiful in Northern Germany even has its starting point here – the Heidschnuckenweg.
As a certified nature and landscape guide I can offer you complementary natural city tours. During our time out you will come into contact with an enchanting part of urban nature, activate mind and body and forget that you are still in Hamburg.
I’m sure you’ve asked yourself before…
…broom heather, Calluna Vulgaris, Erika – what is the name of the heather?
…why the sheep here are called heathens?
…if there’s a rule of thumb for the heather blossom?
…what’s with the adjacent red space?
…tastes like birch water?
On this nature tour you will get an answer to your questions from me. On the way we explore natural phenomena together, enjoy views from the highlights in the terrain and get to know a diverse natural environment in a playful way.
Our joint NaTour ends at the information centre Fischbeker Heidehaus of the Loki Schmidt Foundation. Here you can then explore the interactive exhibition or make your way home.
Follow me out of town – I look forward to seeing you!
TIP
You would like to explore the Fischbeker Heide early in the morning before everyone else… or meet the shepherdess with her herd of snails during the nature tour… or afterwards take a seat at a set hiking table?
For your personal touch I will gladly arrange a tailor-made tour for you. Route, duration and price of the tour can be arranged individually with me. Feel free to contact me: by phone, by e-mail or use the contact form to ask me your questions.
